[Waxing]

Waxing has a painful reputation, and it doesn’t have to be that way! Waxing involves applying a strip of wax across the skin, and quickly pulling it off in the direction of hair growth. The result is long-lasting smooth skin that eliminates issues that come with shaving such as thick and quick regrowth, ingrown hair, and irritation. Over time hair regrowth thins and decreases, making it an ideal long-term treatment.

[Sugaring]

Sugaring is a process of applying a waxlike substance to the skin, which is flicked off in the direction of hair growth so as to not break off the hair. Sugaring is used for genital areas and sensitive allergy-prone skin. Instead of adhering to the skin sugar adheres only to the hair. Like waxing, sugaring leads to reduced and finer hair growth over time.

[Clipping]

Prefer a trim look as opposed to bare skin? We do that too! Clipping involves using an electric trimmer to give you a quick and even trim. Clipping can be done on all body parts and is a painless way to achieve a groomed look. Tailor the clipping process to suit your preference, whether you desire a subtle reduction of hair length or a closer trim for a sleek appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does waxing last for men?

Waxing for men can last anywhere between 4-6 weeks, depending on the speed of hair growth. Individual results may vary.

How long should men's hair be for waxing?
Ideally, men’s hair should be at least 1/4 to 1/2 inch long for waxing to be effective. This allows the wax to grip and remove hair properly.
How much does waxing cost?
The cost of waxing varies based on the area of the body and the salon’s pricing. On average, single body part waxing can range from $10 to $100.
Is waxing safe for men?
Yes, waxing is safe for men. However, as with any skin treatment, it’s recommended to consult with a professional if you have any skin conditions or concerns.
Pre + Post Waxing

What can I expect at my waxing appointment?

  • Consultation. Your therapist will examine the hair length, and trim accordingly for safety purposes as well as your preference. She will also ask you about what areas you would like to leave hair and how much of it you would like to leave.
  • Remove clothing. You will be asked to remove your clothing in a treatment room. By removing your clothes, you protect your clothing as well as provide optimal working conditions so that they can get all of the unwanted hair.
  • Prep the area. Your therapist will cleanse the area to eliminate potentially dangerous bacteria that may exist on your skin. Then she will lightly sprinkle talc powder over the area to be waxed or sugar to ensure the dryness of the area and minimize discomfort and irritation on the skin.
  • How much will it hurt? This is always a tricky question. You are getting the hair pulled out of the follicle, so, there will be a little bit of a sting. A lot depends on your individual threshold for pain. In general, it’s a lot like an elastic band snapping on your skin. It will sting for a few seconds but there is usually no lingering pain associated with waxing. If your skin is sensitive, it may feel like you have a mild sunburn for a day or so.
  • How long will it last? In general, there is only about 20-30% of your body hair on the surface of the skin at any given time. You should schedule a follow up visit in 2-3 weeks after your initial waxing appointment. After regular waxing visits, you will eventually be able to remain smooth for 4-6 weeks, depending upon how fast your body produces hair.
  • Repeat Appointments. Follow up and maintenance appointments will maximize your results. Expect to re-wax every 4-6 weeks. If you keep up a regular waxing schedule, you will start to notice that you are staying smoother, longer and that it begins to sting less each time. Your follicles will start to loosen up and weaken making the waxing process less painful. As the follicles weaken and die, the hair will thin and stop growing.

Wax and Sugar Instructions

  • Cleanliness. Shower and lightly exfoliate the entire waxing areas right before your appointment using warm/hot water. Make sure you’re extra clean.
Be dry. Cleanliness is appreciated, but please skip on the lotion, you’ll get better results if your skin is less oily.
  • Be hairy. Your hair should be at least 0.25 inches in length (which makes it long enough to lay flat on your skin). Please don’t shave for at least two weeks prior to your appointment to ensure that your hair is long enough! Also, if you’ve ‘let it go’ and it seems out of control, don’t worry! I will trim any longer hairs to the proper length prior to the removal process.
  • Be comfortable. If possible, wear clean, loose clothing that day to prevent irritation in the post-wax phase.
  • Be relaxed. Reportedly the more relaxed your muscles are, the better your hair removal results will be! If you’re worried about pain, you may take an ibuprofen 30 mins before your appointment. We DO NOT recommend topical pain creams as using them on large areas of skin can create toxicity and make you very sick.
  • Be Clean. Make sure the clothing you put on after waxing is clean. If you are not coming directly from home, you may want to bring clean loose-fitting clothes to change into after waxing. Also, change the sheets on your bed. You want to minimize the chance of bacteria coming into contact with freshly waxed skin.

Post-Treatment Instructions

  • Watch your fashion choices. Don’t wear tight clothing for the next few days.
  • Hands off. Some irritation should be expected. Especially when you first begin waxing treatments. Little red dots or bumps may appear but should go away in about 24-48 hours. Keep hands away from touching freshly waxed skin, as this can encourage irritation or small pimples.
  • Clean, Cool & Dry. No tanning beds/UV exposure, no spray tanning, no saunas or steam rooms, no hot tubs/hot baths or showers. No exercise or workouts for the next 1-2 days.
  • Heat causes the follicles to remain open and sweating causes bacteria on the skin. This will cause a breakout on the skin.
  • Short-term abstinence. Sexual activity should be avoided for at least 24 – 48 hours.
  • Exfoliate. Two full days later, if there isn’t any redness use a mild exfoliator. This helps prevent ingrown hairs. We recommend an Ayate washcloth, which gently exfoliates skin alone wet, or can be used with your regular body wash.
  • Fight the bumps. To prevent in-grown hair, make sure to exfoliate before and after you do any hair removal, whether it be shaving, waxing, sugaring or even laser. We recommend a good scrub cloth and finishing up with some pure aloe gel for moisture.
